About Us
Who We Are
Talos Family is an innovative software company dedicated to helping families, businesses, and people who are less tech-savvy use the Internet more safely, with greater control, and with fewer disruptions.
Our core solution is a high-performance virtual router that combines modern VPN technology with intelligent DNS and network filtering.
Unlike traditional routers or basic VPN services, Talos Family combines encrypted internet communication with centrally managed filtering. This not only provides users with a secure connection but also allows them to control which content and services are accessible within the secure network.
Smart protection that works automatically
Our filtering system can block known unwanted or dangerous websites at the network level.
These include, among other things:
Social media platforms
: Reduce distractions, support focused learning time, and promote more mindful internet use for children, teens, and adults.
Intrusive Ads and Tracking
Many well-known advertising and tracking domains can already be blocked at the network level. This helps reduce intrusive ads, banners, pop-ups, and unnecessary tracking connections.
Online games
Gaming services can, for example, be restricted or blocked during study, work, or rest periods.
Gambling and Betting Sites
Access to well-known casino, betting, and gambling sites may be restricted.
Fraudulent and malicious websites
Known phishing sites, scam sites, fake online stores, and other dangerous websites can be blocked before users visit them normally.
Why This Is Important
With Talos Family, you don't have to set up security rules separately on each individual device.
Filtering is handled centrally via the secure network connection. This allows smartphones, tablets, computers, smart TVs, game consoles, and other internet-enabled devices to benefit from the same protection rules, depending on the setup.
For parents, this means less hassle when managing their children's various devices.
For adults and seniors, centrally managed protection can help reduce the risk posed by phishing, fraudulent websites, fake online stores, dangerous links, and unwanted tracking.
Simple. Secure. Smart.
Protection for Children, Parents, and Seniors
Talos Family was not developed solely as a traditional parental control tool.
Our goal is to help people of all ages use the Internet safely.
Protection for Children
Today, children and teenagers use a wide variety of devices to access the Internet. Smartphones, tablets, computers, smart TVs, and game consoles are part of everyday life for many families.
Talos Family can help parents centrally control access to inappropriate content, social media services, online games, gambling sites, and other undesirable online content.
The focus here is on protecting the Internet connection, not on constantly monitoring the child.
Protection for Adults
Adults, too, face phishing, fake online stores, fraudulent websites, tracking, and other online risks every day.
Talos Family can filter known problematic websites and unwanted connections at the network level, thereby providing an additional layer of protection during everyday web browsing.
Protection for seniors and people who are less tech-savvy
Online fraud is becoming increasingly sophisticated.
Fake bank websites, package notifications, fake online stores, and phishing websites can appear legitimate at first glance.
Talos Family is designed to provide support especially to people who don't deal with IT security on a daily basis.
The protection runs centrally in the background and can block known dangerous websites without requiring users to manage complicated security settings themselves.
Network-Level Protection
Many traditional security and parental control solutions operate directly on a single device.
This often means that an additional app must be installed and set up on every smartphone, tablet, or computer.
Talos Family takes a different approach.
Filtering takes place via the secure network connection. This allows multiple devices to use the same protection rules without having to set up identical filter lists or parental control programs on each individual device.
This can significantly simplify management, especially in households with multiple people and different types of devices.
Centralized Update of Safety Rules
Another advantage of network-based architecture is that filter rules and threat information can be managed centrally.
Parents or users do not need to manually install new block lists on every device.
When Talos Family updates its filtering rules, DNS protection mechanisms, or threat intelligence, devices within the protected connection can benefit from these changes.
This is especially important when it comes to protecting against phishing and online fraud.
New fraudulent domains and websites are popping up all the time. A fake bank website, a fake online store, or a fraudulent package notification might not even exist today, but could appear on the Internet as early as tomorrow.
Centrally managed filters allow the security level to evolve without having to reconfigure each device individually.
About the Founder
Nikolaos Tosis – Founder and Software Engineer
Talos Family was founded by Nikolaos Tosis.
Nikolaos Tosis is a software engineer with more than ten years of professional experience in the automotive industry.
His professional focus is on the development of embedded software for safety-critical systems.
Throughout his career, he has been involved in software solutions used in vehicle platforms and technical systems for various international automotive brands, including, among others, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Ford, Renault, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, and MINI.
According to him, the embedded software he helped develop is now used in millions of vehicles.
The development of safety-critical automotive software places high demands on reliability, stability, traceability, and technical quality.
This experience also shapes the technical philosophy behind Talos Family.
The goal is to apply proven engineering principles from safety-critical systems to web security, network filtering, VPN technology, and automated protection mechanisms.
Security should not depend on whether every user is an IT expert.
That is why Talos Family develops protective mechanisms that operate in as centralized, understandable, and automated a manner as possible.
Our Philosophy
We believe that modern web security should have three characteristics:
Protection should be accessible even to people who don't have in-depth technical knowledge.
Central
Security policies should, whenever possible, be managed from a central location rather than on each device individually.
Privacy-Focused
Protection does not necessarily mean monitoring every detail of a user's digital activity.
Talos Family therefore focuses on filtering out dangerous or unwanted websites and protecting the network connection.
Limits of Protection
Even a modern filtering and security system cannot guarantee that every single dangerous, fraudulent, or unwanted website will be detected and blocked.
New domains, phishing sites, fake online stores, malware, and other online threats are constantly emerging.
No DNS filter, VPN service, antivirus program, or web security product can guarantee 100 percent protection against all possible online risks.
Talos Family is designed to reduce risk and block known unwanted or malicious websites based on the filter rules and threat intelligence available at any given time.
When Talos Family blocks a connection, the destination matches an active filter rule, a blocked category, or a security rating available at that time.
Despite our security measures, users should continue to follow basic safety precautions, such as when dealing with unknown links, email attachments, payment requests, or entering personal information.
